Process Cooling Virtual TraininG 2026

Better Plants will deliver a VT on Process Cooling Systems from July 16 to September 3, 2026. Participants will learn about industrial chilled water plant systems fundamentals and conduct a system-specific energy assessment using the Process Cooling Assessment Module in MEASUR. The training will also include a demonstration on the 3EPlus (Insulation Evaluation software), MEASUR calculators and the pump assessment module in MEASUR.

The Process Cooling Systems VT is comprised of 2.5-hour online training sessions (2-hour formal training and optional 0.5-hour Q&A) that will be delivered every Thursday, 2:00 PM – 4:30 PM ET for eight (8) weeks by industrial experts and Technical Account Managers. Participation is open to all U.S. manufacturers and is offered at no cost.

To maximize the benefits from attending VTs, participants will receive homework assignments at the end of each session that will be due by the next session. These homework assignments are designed to enhance participants’ understanding of industrial chilled water plant systems and help them identify and quantify energy savings opportunities.

At completion of the VT, participants may request a certificate for Professional Development Hours (PDHs). Participants will leave with practical, hands-on experience and actionable insights they can apply to drive measurable energy-saving improvements.

Process Cooling Virtual Training Agenda

July 16 to September 3, 2026; Every Thursday 2 PM–4:30 PM ET (2-hour formal training + optional 0.5-hour Q&A)

Session 1 – Industrial Chilled Water Systems Fundamentals: Jul 16, 2026
An introduction to Better Plants, followed by presentations from industrial chilled water system experts who will explain chilled water system fundamentals and provide an overview of system types and components.
Session 2 – Review of Chilled Water System Scoping Tool, Efficiency Metrics & Calculations: Jul 23, 2026
An introduction to the Chilled Water System Scoping Tool (CWST), demonstrating its functionality and use, including chilled water plant performance metrics along with the calculations typically used to assess and optimize systems .
Session 3 – Introduction to Process Cooling Assessment Module in MEASUR: Jul 30, 2026
A demonstration of the Process Cooling Assessment module in MEASUR that will guide attendees through building a model of an example industrial chilled water system, with the goal for participants to be able to model and baseline their own plant systems.
Session 4 – Using Process Cooling Module to Quantify Energy Savings Opportunities – Part 1: Aug 6, 2026
An explanation of how the Process Cooling module in MEASUR is used to model several energy savings opportunities in chilled water systems – including understanding, quantifying, and implementing opportunities in the field, such as set-point temperature changes and chiller replacement.
Session 5 – Using Process Cooling Module to Quantify Energy Savings Opportunities – Part 2: Aug 13, 2026
An overview of the energy savings opportunities for optimizing industrial chilled water systems, demonstrating how several opportunities can be modeled in the Process Cooling module in MEASUR using the sample industrial system, including examples such as free cooling and air-cooled versus water-cooled configurations.
Session 6 – U.S. DOE MEASUR, 3EPlus, VT Assessment and Reporting: Aug 20, 2026
A review of the full set of tools and resources available for completing a chilled water plant system energy assessment, highlighting the key attributes of a successful VT, and prepare participants to finalize their MEASUR models and complete their own VT assessments.
Session 7 – Case Studies, Refrigerants, Reclamation & O&M Best Practices: Aug 27, 2026
An evaluation of the selected case studies from industrial process cooling applications that highlights common opportunities in chilled water plants, provides an overview of the refrigerants landscape, and discusses operations and maintenance best practices – including refrigerant reclamation – to support energy savings system performance.
Session 8 – Industrial Process Cooling System VT Wrap-up Presentations: Sep 3, 2026
A review of the content centered on quantifying energy savings opportunities, during which attendees will discuss their virtual assessment results with optional participation from their upper management.
